Funny, the statement “Starting Over” has a lot of meanings. I originally meant I am starting over from the beginning with my 60 Plus Livin & Lovin blog. Now that I think about it, in the past 2 years I have had a lot of starting over. Choosing to fall in love and remarry at the age of 61, 10 years after my late husband past, was a huge starting over. Then in March of 2017 I had a quadruple bypass surgery. Again giving me a chance to start over. 6 weeks later I had breast cancer surgery. Again giving me a chance to start over cancer free.
Okay, so we are all thinking enough is enough. Well, not the case. I have been overweight since the age of 10. Not knowing then that it was the first sign of Poly-cystic Ovary Syndrome. I was diagnosed in 1979. Not much was known about PCOS then and more is being found out every year. It causes obesity, infertility, diabetes and heart issues. Little did I know until the past 3 years, through self research all of the medical problems it caused. I went on Keto lifestyle and lost 50 lbs. I had the 2 surgeries and stopped loosing weight. When Keto stopped working, I stopped eating. I ate between 300 to 800 calories a day living mostly on olives and sausage sticks. I chose to not eat anything that had more than 3 carbs. I restricted more than 95% of all foods. I avoided eating meals. I went probably 15 hours straight a day without eating. I had massive joint and muscle pain. My primary care physician recognized that I had an eating disorder and referred me to The Emily Program for eating disorders. (emilyprogram.com). Now another chance to “Start Over”. I had 8 weeks of very intensive therapy. I was, however, equipped with the tools to successfully start eating again. We thought the pain was from the hormone blocking therapy drug for my breast cancer. When in fact it was probably a combination of the drug called Anostrazole and malnutrition. Praise God! I feel wonderful. I even bought a new bike. Sure, I forgot how stop with pedal brakes and fell twice in my first ride and skinned a knee but I’m out there walking and riding again.
STARTING OVER IS A GREAT THING!

They say, “jump back on that bike and keep pedaling”, and that you did! Over and over again, stronger than ever. Great work!
